During 2024-2025, in an effort to engage students and follow a three-dimensional sculpture process from vision to reality, student groups within our high school sculpture/ceramics courses produced a collaborative sculpture from a prompt addressing the concepts of home, place and belonging (Phase 1). Lesson content focused on getting students to connect and build a sense of artistic community / sense of artistic belonging. Collaborative sculptures were presented for adjudication/selection by a panel for Phase 2. McNeil HS (Chris Robbins, Sculpture Faculty) student's work was selected and we are in the process of engaging a foundry for the work to be scanned and be cast as a bronze. The completed sculpture is planned for installation in one of the auditorium plazas.
Please note that this process has exceeded the planned timeline due to struggles engaging a foundry for scanning and production. We want to thank our grant partners, The Round Rock Partners in Education Foundation and the City of Round Rock Arts and Culture for their support and patience.
Additional information will be forthcoming as we work the foundry process. Maquettes created by all five high schools will be showcased during Fall 2025.
Congratulations McNeil HS Sculpture students and Mr. Robbins on your exceptional work!
Thank you for helping to promote the Round Rock ISD Visual Arts Program and celebrate student achievement through production and exhibition of student work.
