August Back to School Information

Hello Spicewood Community,

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here—our teachers are receiving their class lists today, and tomorrow our students will get to meet the teacher who will spend the year teaching, loving, and growing them.

This time of year brings big emotions—excitement, anticipation, maybe even a few nerves. As we step into this special season, I want to share a few important reminders:

❌ Class lists aren’t just lists.
💙 They hold the names of parents’ greatest treasure.

❌ Class lists aren’t just lists.
💙 They include students who were intentionally and thoughtfully placed with just the right teacher.

❌ Class lists aren’t just lists.
💙 They carry dreams, fresh starts, and the promise of growth.

❌ Class lists aren’t just lists.
💙 They are a gift.

And parents, I want to remind you: our teachers are a gift to you.
We are so proud to share these incredible educators with your family this school year. Each teacher has spent countless hours preparing their classrooms and their hearts for the students they are about to meet—your children. I know they will be loved, challenged, celebrated, and supported by the teacher chosen for them.

As we ask our teachers to build strong connections with your children, we also ask you to build a partnership with them. Get to know your child’s teacher, support them, and show your appreciation. Trust me—they’ve earned it.

How we celebrate tomorrow helps set the tone for a joyful, successful school year.

We are so lucky to have a community as supportive and engaged as Spicewood. I can't wait to grow, learn, and celebrate another amazing year with all of you.

With gratitude,
Melanie Solis
Principal, Spicewood Elementary

First Day of School Procedures

As we approach the first day of school on August 12th, we want to make sure everyone is aware of the start times for Round Rock ISD. Doors at Spicewood will open to students at 7:20am. Students will either eat breakfast in the cafeteria or head to class. The school bell will ring at 7:30am, and the tardy bell will ring at 7:35am. After 7:35, your child is considered tardy and will need to enter through the front office.

First Day of School: parents are welcome to walk students to their classroom and will be asked to exit the building at 7:35.

Remainder of the School Year: parents are asked to please say goodbye to students at the designated hug zones which are on the field side of the crosswalk and the awning by the front entrance.
