Spicewood Principal Newsletter
Hello Spicewood Families,
We’ve had a fun-filled, jam-packed short week at Spicewood! It was wonderful to see so many of you cheering on and helping with Apex today—we couldn’t have done it without your support. Next up is another exciting event… our Book Fair! Please note, there is a change this year: the fair will be completely cashless. You can find all the details in the special edition of the Library Lowdown.
Next Thursday and Friday we’re excited to host our Panther Picnic! Families are invited to enjoy a picnic lunch on the front lawn during their child’s grade-level time. Afterward, you’re welcome to head inside and shop the Book Fair. If you plan to visit the Book Fair, please remember that a badge is required. To save time, RSVP using the form below, or plan to arrive a little early to print your badge. You’ll find all the details in the flyer linked below.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Melanie Solis

Thank you so much for all your support with Apex this year. We had a great time and the students participated in valuable leadership lessons each day. Plus they had some fun too!
Special thanks to our volunteers who came out today to join the fun! The links to donate will still be open until Sunday! We are just a little bit short of making me an ice cream sundae so if you do not wish to donate that is ok too! ;)
We are gathering information on the holidays our Spicewood students celebrate and observe. Our goal is to acknowledge and showcase the variety of celebrations important to our population via Broadcast throughout the school year.
If interested, we will also be collecting videos and photos from families about a celebration important to them. PBS Learning Media has quality “All About the Holidays” clips, but we would love to see how YOU celebrate!
Fill out this survey to help us know which holidays our student population celebrates!
Round Rock ISD is committed to the well-being of all our students. Round Rock ISD Board Goal Four measures student perceptions of Sense of Belonging, Safety at School, and Student Self-Efficacy. Since 2023, the district has used a survey from Panorama Education to help us understand these perceptions.
In previous years, parents could opt-out of this survey. However, with the passage of Senate Bill 12, your student must be opted-in for them to participate.
Our district values input from our community and we want to hear from your child(ren) so that we may learn about their experiences. While we encourage your student’s participation in the survey so that we use the data to make informed decisions about increasing our student’s sense of belonging in RRISD, we also believe in your right to make the choice that is best for your student and family.
On September 19, 2025, you should have received an email from Round Rock ISD with the subject line of “Action Required: Panorama Student Survey Consent” The link embedded in the email will take you to a form to either Opt-In or Opt-Out for your student’s participation in the Panorama Survey.
To review the questions on the survey, please click on the links below.
3rd-5th Grades: Student Perception and Climate
6th-12th Grades: Competencies and Climate
The survey will be administered during the weeks of October 6-17 (Fall Survey) and March 2-13 (Spring Survey). To give your consent for your student to take the survey, please make your selection by September 29, 2025.
With support from the Spicewood Elementary PTA, teachers, school staff, and community members we are thrilled to introduce the new FLL- Robotics Club at SWE. Robotics Club promotes STEM skills, and intends to support our creative thinkers, passionate about designing, building, and programming robots. For more information, or queries please email Club Chair, Nidhi Parashar, at robotics@spicewoodpta.org
For the 2025-26 competition season, we are hoping to partner with FIRST LEGO League to be able to host the season FLL Qualifier at Spicewood Elementary. To help prepare, we are requesting all students, coaches, and parents/caregivers who will be registering for FLL Qualifiers to contact the club chair at robotics@spicewoodpta.org. We wish to estimate how many total teams from the SWE student body will be registering for FLL Qualifiers in the 2025 season. Stay tuned for more updates!
