Spicewood Principal Newsletter
Hello Spicewood Families,
Thank you for an incredible week at Spicewood! It was wonderful to see so many families at our first PTA meeting of the year. We had over 60 participants join us—the highest turnout we’ve had in quite some time! PTA meetings are a fantastic way to learn more about how the PTA supports our school, and we are truly grateful for their partnership. Spicewood would not be the same without the dedication of our community and PTA support. If you haven’t joined yet, we encourage you to do so—there’s a QR code on the flyer below to make it easy. For more information on how PTA supports Spicewood or how you can help, please visit their website at spicewoodpta.membershiptoolkit.com.
This week during classroom visits, I was so impressed to see our students and teachers hard at work and fully engaged in learning. Great things are happening every day at Spicewood, and I am incredibly proud of the strong start our Panthers have made this school year.
Please be on the lookout for an email from Power School Enrollment. It is in regards to Senate Bill 12 where parents must give consent to opt in or opt out of campus-based health services. In order for our nurse or anyone on campus to give care, we must receive consent. There are more details in the email that was sent to you. If you have not received it yet, you should be receiving it shortly.
One more thing- we are on the lookout for a 20 ft. trailer to borrow for the upcoming Westwood Homecoming Parade. If you have one or a connection to one, please let me know!
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Melanie Solis
Principal

Westwood football would like to invite you to team up with us for a great cause, the Peanut Butter Bowl — Feeding People Through Football — by collecting as many jars of peanut butter (or monetary donations - $2 = 1 jar of peanut butter) as possible before our season opener. It’s time to bring the heat before the first whistle blows with the Peanut Butter Bowl.
Please bring in new jars of peanut butter to the donation box located in the foyer at Spicewood. Let's show our Westwood Football Team some support and help collect jars for this great cause! There is a friendly competition between the elementary campuses so let's do this Spicewood!
One of the things that makes Spicewood so special is our incredible PTA — the Parent Teacher Association. Each year, our goal is to have at least one PTA membership for every Spicewood student, along with 100% participation from our staff. We’re excited to share that 98% of our staff have already joined! Now, we invite our families to partner with us by becoming PTA members and helping us reach our goal.
Our 1st General PTA meeting will be August 20th, at 6:00pm in the Library. We hope to see you there!
Pack your bags and join other Panther families for a fun-filled weekend at Kalahari Resorts! Not only will you enjoy a memorable getaway, but a portion of each room rate will also be donated back to support our school.
For booking assistance, please reach out to Annie Livingston at fundraising@spicewoodpta.org.
The Panther Patrol is a parent volunteer group that coordinates with Principal and Teachers to identify volunteer opportunites that engage the community in student mentorship and campus improvements.
Parents can sign up at any of our monthly days to spend the day at Spicewood helping teachers and administrators behind the scenes with anything ranging from landscaping, preparing activities for teachers, and much more!
The dates for the school year are listed on the form so plan ahead, take the day off and join us at Spicewood! Here is the link to sign up if interested: https://forms.gle/GQUx1F2cSPZqoGwL9
