Spicewood Principal Newsletter |
Hello Spicewood Families,
We want to remind families that motorized vehicles—including dirt bikes—are not permitted on school property at any time, before, during, or after school hours. Our playground and outdoor spaces are open to the community and are frequently used by children and families of all ages. The presence of motorized vehicles in these areas creates a significant safety concern for those using the space. Additionally, we have seen damage to our sports courts and grounds as a result of this activity. We are monitoring this situation closely and appreciate your support in reinforcing this expectation with your children. Our goal is to ensure that our campus remains a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
When having lunch with your child, please make sure your child is back in the cafeteria with the class at least 5 minutes before the end of the designated lunch period to ensure a smooth and efficient transition. Lunch times are posted at the top of the lunch sign out form. Thank you for honoring our students' learning time and safety!
Sincerely,
Kelley Hirt
Interim Principal
Spicewood Elementary, an IB World School

Dear Panthers,
Spicewood’s annual Field Day is on Friday, April 24th! This day is filled with activities to celebrate physical fitness, fair play, good sportsmanship, and most importantly working together to have fun! Each grade level will be able to participate in a variety of skill-based activities that are stationed all around the playground and field.
This event will be closed to visitors except for those who have signed up to help run a station via the Sign-Up Genius. We are so grateful to the many parents who are willing to volunteer! This event would not be possible without you!! More information will be sent out soon!
To ensure a successful day for all, here are 3 important things to remember:
Apply sunscreen before leaving home. Bring extra to re-apply if needed. Staff cannot apply sunscreen on children.
Allow your child to bring a hat and a water bottle. With more than 650 participants, we cannot keep track of your child’s belongings. Remember to label everything and don't send anything special.
Students have the opportunity to participate in a few stations that include water and may get a little wet. Field Day attire must follow the SWES dress code policy, no bathing suits. You are welcome to send in a labeled towel (preferably not a nice one in case it is lost), plastic bag for wet clothes, and a dry change of clothes for afterwards. Extra shoes for after are a great idea too!
No open-toed shoes, please!
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Coach Pierce & Coach Perry
