Spicewood Principal Newsletter

Hello Spicewood Families,

This week, our school community came together for a beautiful Veteran’s Day program that filled us with pride and gratitude. Our 4th grade students did an outstanding job honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. We are deeply thankful to the Veterans who joined us, as well as those who continue to serve and protect our freedoms. A special thank you to our music teachers, Ms. Brown and Mr. Garcia, for directing the program, and to our Specials team, 4th grade teachers, and Ms. Cimo for their support in making this event so meaningful.

Next Friday is our annual Fall Carnival!  Please make sure to read the information further down the flyer and purchase your wristbands!  This is a great event that brings our Spicewood community together. We hope to see you there!

5th Grade Parents Only!

5th grade students who will be attending Outdoor School from November 19th, Wednesday to November 21st, Friday.

Please drop off the Outdoor School Medication and forms at the nurse's office if you are planning to send any medication to the Outdoor School at your earliest convenience. Prescribed medication needs a doctor's prescription. Due date is November 14th, Friday. You can find all the related information from your classroom teacher's email.  Please don't hesitate to contact Nurse Sam if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you so much.

Each year Round Rock ISD has open registration to refer a student for gifted services. You might be asking yourself if this is a good fit for your child. Our service model provides an array of learning opportunities for students who show advanced ability or potential in comparison to students of the same age, experience, and environment. If your child seems to exceed the expectations in their current grade level at their school or amongst their peers, you might consider referring them for the assessment process. Gifted learners are not just accelerated in their mastery of content. You can visit the RRISD webpage to learn more about characteristics that are common in students who receive gifted services.

After reviewing these characteristics, if you feel your child might be a good candidate for these services, please refer your student for testing by December 12th at 4:30 pm. Late referrals will not be accepted. You can access the referral link on the RRISD Advanced Academics TAG website.

We have a donation drop off container in the front foyer at Spicewood.  Donations that meet the below criteria will be much appreciated to support our community!

Join us for a fun-filled evening featuring inflatables, exciting indoor and outdoor games, and our crowd-favorite Cake Walk! Don’t miss it!

We are in great need of donations for our Cake Walk.  This is a student and family favorite!  Please visit this link for more information and to sign up to support the Carnival!

The Panther Patrol is a parent volunteer group that coordinates with Principal and Teachers to identify volunteer opportunites that engage the community in student mentorship and campus improvements.

Parents can sign up at any of our monthly days to spend the day at Spicewood helping teachers and administrators behind the scenes with anything ranging from landscaping, preparing activities for teachers, and much more!
