Spicewood Principal Newsletter

Hello Spicewood Families,

It’s been another wonderful week at Spicewood! Thank you to everyone for your continued support and partnership in making our school such a special place. Just a reminder that there will be no school on Monday as we hold our Parent/Teacher Conferences. We hope you enjoy this opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, learn about their growth, and hear more about their day-to-day experiences here at school.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Melanie Solis

Class Dojo Information

Hello Parents!

Our Specials and Spanish team will now be using ClassDojo to communicate with parents and families about events and activities going on in those class periods. You should receive an invitation to join a class from Mrs. Price, our Instructional Technology Specialist. This is not spam. Please note that ClassDojo is free, but there is a subscription offer for ClassDojo Plus that may pop-up.

Parents are under no obligation to purchase the subscription - everything you need to communicate with your child's teacher is free. There will be a "Skip" button or an "X" button to close and bypass any in-app ads for ClassDojo Plus.

If you, as the parent, signed up for a 7-day free trial of ClassDojo Plus but did not cancel your subscription, you will be charged at the end of the trial using the payment method that you provided when purchasing the subscription. You can cancel your subscription at any time by following these steps: How to Cancel your ClassDojo Plus Subscription.

UIL Opportunity

Did you know that Spicewood is the reigning UIL Champions for the Westwood Learning Community?

We are looking for interested students to help us defend our title at the UIL meet on January 30th. There are available events for students in grades 2nd-5th. If your child is interested in participating, they must commit to 6 practices and be available if chosen to compete at the meet on January 30th. Practice dates and times will be shared to the group after sign ups.

Students may join up to 2 events as long as the events are not in conflict time slots at the meet. The google form has the event schedule so please make sure you do not sign up for 2 overlapping events.

If your child would like to participate, please fill out this google form by our deadline of October 22nd. This is a hard deadline so our coaches can prepare information for teams to begin practice.

Before signing up, it is important that your child is interested in the selected event and will be a willing participant!

Dyslexia Awareness Month

Happy 2nd week of Dyslexia Awareness Month! Did you know that people with dyslexia have many talents and strengths that help them to be successful? Watch this video about some talented people who are dyslexic!

This year we are going to celebrate our unique and brilliant students with a Dyslexia Awareness Dash (fun run) on October 30th. Please click this link if you are interested in attending.
