i‑Ready Communication and Advisory Expectations

Panther Families,

Our students recently completed the i-Ready diagnostic assessments, which provide valuable insights into each student’s strengths and areas for growth in both reading and mathematics. After the diagnostic is complete, students are assigned an individualized pathway to support gaps in previously learned material, as well as enrichment opportunities that extend into future or above-grade-level standards. A key aspect of i-Ready is that all pathways are unique to each scholar, personalized to help ensure every student is learning at their level and moving forward.

For example, if a 6th grader scores at a 7th-grade level on the i-Ready Diagnostic, they will still have a pathway. i-Ready adjusts lessons up or down depending on the student’s needs. This means your student will not repeat skills they have already mastered, will receive lessons that target areas where they can continue to grow, and may be challenged with concepts above their grade level if they are ready. Please note that students can test out of an i-Ready pathway if they display mastery of the concepts supported by the program and can complete their pathway once all remediation and enrichment have been successfully completed.

During Advisory, students will engage in their i-Ready pathways regularly. The district-wide expectation is that all students:

  •  Pass at least two lessons per week in each subject area at 70%

  • Complete a minimum of 45 minutes per week in each subject area (Math and Reading/Language Arts), an important component is not just time to task, but lessons passed at a 70%

  • Time and lessons will be tracked from Monday through Friday each week

To ensure that every student has the opportunity to meet their requirement, we have built a structured advisory system:

  • Monday & Tuesday– Math i-Ready

  • Wednesday & Thursday– Reading/Language Arts i-Ready

  • Advisory teachers will monitor progress weekly and redirect students who have not yet met their minutes and lesson goals.

  • If a student has already completed their weekly requirement, advisory time may be used for homework, tutorials, or other academic needs. However, if a student has not yet met the requirement, they will be expected to remain in their i-Ready pathway during advisory until it is fulfilled.

At the same time, we recognize that students may have other responsibilities or coursework. Students are encouraged to use time outside of school (before or after school, or over the weekend) or during free time during class to complete their i-Ready minutes and lessons.

With both the ability to work inside i-Ready pathways outside of the instructional school day and the structured advisory time, students have the opportunity to meet the district goals for i-Ready. This dual approach provides flexibility for families while ensuring that all students receive the targeted support they need for growth and success.

i-Ready is the district’s required intervention/enrichment curriculum. We understand that this is a significant commitment, but we also know the power of targeted intervention to close learning gaps and accelerate growth. By working in their i-Ready pathways, students receive personalized support that adapts to their progress and prepares them for continued success.

Campus leadership and advisory teachers will be monitoring and tracking student engagement and success within the system. We will incorporate rewards and celebrate our scholars' continued efforts to fill academic gaps and extend their learning through the use of i-Ready.

Thank you for supporting this effort at home. Together, we can ensure that every student has the tools and opportunities they need to grow and thrive.
