RRISD Inclement Weather Protocols |
Current 6th and 7th Graders: Counselors will be in Classroom Guidance to present 2026-27 Course Choice Sheets to students the week of January 26-30th. Choice sheets will open for students on January 30th at 4:00PM and must be completed by February 20th by 4:00PM. |
For students who will be in 7th grade next year, Round Rock ISD is excited to introduce Navigating Your Future, a new required middle school course for 7th graders designed to guide students and families in planning for success in high school and beyond.
This course helps students create a personalized four-year high school graduation plan tailored to their strengths, interests, and future goals. Through self-exploration and practical lessons, students learn how their academic choices—such as course selections and endorsements—impact future opportunities.
In addition to building these important planning skills, Navigating Your Future provides students the opportunity to earn high school credit while still in middle school. This ensures that students begin high school with both a strong foundation and meaningful progress toward graduation and college and career readiness.
The goal of Navigating Your Future is to help students enter high school with confidence and purpose. By the end of the course, each student will have a clear plan and the tools needed to make informed decisions about their educational journey.
This proactive approach not only supports academic achievement but also prepares students to think ahead, explore career pathways, and connect their middle school experiences to future aspirations aligned with family goals for success. This supports Round Rock ISD’s mission to ensure all students are future-ready and empowered for success beyond graduation. Current 8th Graders:
The registration period for 8th grade students at Ridgeview Middle School is now open! 8th grade students will complete a Google Form to make their course selections for their freshman year at Cedar Ridge. In total, students will take eight classes, including four core classes (English, Social Studies, Math, and Science) and four electives (Fine Arts, Athletics, Academy classes, etc.).
All of the information needed to learn about course selection and the registration process can be found in the Google Doc linked below. Registration Instructions

Important Update Related to Go Guardian/Beacon - Parent App |
GoGuardian / Beacon After Hours and Non-Instructional Day Notifications
To support student safety, digital citizenship, and social-emotional well-being, Round Rock ISD partnered with GoGuardian this fall to implement the Beacon digital monitoring system. Beacon helps district and campus staff monitor student online activity during the school day to identify potential safety concerns and provide timely support when needed. School-day monitoring hours in Beacon are 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on instructional days. On non-instructional days, district staff will not actively monitor Beacon notifications.
Outside of school hours, and during weekends, holidays and school breaks, parents and guardians may continue monitoring their student’s online activity by using the GoGuardian Parent Mobile App. The Beacon system allows district staff and parents to view: Student online browsing activity, and Activity within the student’s district Google account. When enabled, Beacon generates notifications for online activity that may indicate that a student could benefit from additional support. Parent Monitoring Encouraged
Parents and guardians are encouraged to download the GoGuardian Parent App to continue monitoring their students’ online activity during Winter Break and throughout the year outside of school hours or on non-instructional days.
Thank you for partnering with us to support student safety and well-being, both online and offline. Learn more about GoGuardian. |
