Legendary families,
As you know, we are a Leader in Me school, and on Friday, February 13th we will be celebrating our students' leadership with our first ever Legends, Love, and Leadership Day. This will take place from 1:45-2:55 during our Valentine's parties. The party will begin with a short leadership presentation by the students in their classroom. Students will be able to pass out Valentine's (to save time we ask that they are only labeled with your student's name, not classmates) then, parents and students can enjoy refreshments as students share their leadership portfolios with them. Our students' leadership portfolios include sections all about the student, the students' goals, and their celebrations. We encourage all parents to attend so your child can share with you. We will have staff available for students whose parents are unable to attend. We hope you can attend! Thank you for supporting student leadership at Live Oak!

Journey to the Arctic Day |
|
|
Last week our kindergartners went on a field trip to the Arctic! Students had fun and solidified their learning on what makes the animals of the Arctic able to survive in harsh conditions. A snack was lost overboard on the boat ride, but all students returned safely!

Your HELP NEEDED: LOE Library Book Care |
|
|
A significant increase in LOE library book damage due to water, food, writing/marking on and cutting pages has occurred this school year. We are asking LOE parents, students and community members to take extra care when using and transporting library books. Please keep liquids, food and writing or sharp implements separate from library materials. In these challenging budgetary times, replacing damaged library materials oftentimes is not possible. Help LOE maintain a quality library collection by exercising care and caution with LOE school property. Thank you!

What: Our Garden committee would like to include parents and discuss a school wide gardening day where parents will be invited to help their student plant their plant in our garden. All students are planting seeds this week in a pod. These pods are being grown in a greenhouse. We will discuss when to plant them and how to organize this fun event.
We will also discuss a shed clean out day where volunteers can help us clean out the gardening shed and create a more useful space for our gardening tools and planting supplies. RSVP to carol_bryan@roundrockisd.org We are looking forward to this partnership! |

Lessons: January’s focus is a school wide lesson about Culture - understanding our own and others’. Utilizing the habit of “Seek first to understand”, we can learn about our commonalities and to be respectful of our differences.
The culture homework leaves were due on Jan. 23rd, but we are still accepting them!. Tell us about your traditions, holidays celebrated, languages, religions, any foods special to your culture, or anything else you want to share. Thank you for helping your child if needed. Please color neatly, cut out, and the student's name and teacher goes on the back! The leaves will be shared in class and placed on our Culture Tree. We appreciate your support and look forward to learning about all our diverse cultures here at LOE! Here are some samples! Please reach out if we can help in any way.
