Good News! Forest staff and families have been working for months with Rounds Rock ISD to take action and increase the security of our building and property. Phase 1 of a fencing project was completed this week! You'll notice that the front of our school and playground area has been updated with a new, taller fence, a new fence configuration and a locking gate. This provides greater security to students as they enjoy the outdoors at recess, and we are grateful for the improvements.

More fencing is expected for Phase 2, most likely happening this summer, and includes improvements in perimeter fencing and new entry/exit gates for vehicles. Once this phase is completed, our playspace will be secured all around-- the playground equipment will be behind closed and locked gates. This will be a change for our community after hours as the space will no longer be accessible on the weekends and holidays. We prefer shared property with full community access, but understand that student safety during school hours takes precedent. For now, the front playground is still accessible via the south gate and families are welcome to use it until the completion of Phase 2 this summer. 

We also have many other RRISD Bond projects happening this summer! We look forward to installing new playground equipment, new ceilings and new tile flooring throughout our building. Hooray! We are grateful that our community voted in the recent bond election and said YES to improvements at Forest North!  

In the state of Texas, music class– taught by a trained and licensed music educator– is currently a requirement for all elementary school students. We’re fortunate to live in an area that values music education and considers it a crucial part of our childrens’ growth and development. Got a bunch of grocery store bags cluttering up your home? Here's your chance to donate for a good cause!

Forest North is participating in HEB's Plastic Bag Recycling Challenge! The program is designed to motivate students across Texas to collect and return plastic bags from their homes and neighborhoods. The initiative not only helps reduce plastic waste but also serves as an opportunity for schools to teach students about the importance of recycling and the impact they can have on our natural environment. Participating schools will also earn an HEB gift card (amount based on the number of bags collected) to support student learning! Last year, HEB collected over 6.7 million plastic bags! Amazing! 

So, save those bags and send them to school! Students can bring them to their homeroom teacher or drop them in the box in the front lobby. Accepted Items include: any retail shopping bag, produce bags, bread bags, film, dry-cleaning bags or newspaper bags.

Today's the LAST DAY of our spring "No Fuss" Fundraiser!  As of this morning, we have raised $4,510.01 of our $5,000 goal! Thank you to everyone for your incredible generosity!

Bring your clean, used plastic bags to the drop off bin at the front of the school Together, we’re turning everyday waste into a meaningful step toward a more sustainable community. Our school will earn money for every bag collected!
