We had a wonderful Kindness Week at Forest North! From dress-up days to random acts of kindness to our Valentine's Day celebrations, our Eagles showed what it truly means to be a kind, compassionate community. Seeing students lift one another up, include others, and celebrate friendships filled our halls with joy.

Thanks to those of you who attended our Valentine's Parties. We have tried a few different party times over the years to try to meet the needs of a wide range of parents who'd like to attend. Please use this form to indicate your preference for either morning or afternoon parties.

Don't forget, students have a 4-day weekend ahead! They return to school on Wednesday, February 18th.

"No Fuss" Fundraiser

Be on the lookout for an email from your child's teacher next Thursday, Feb. 19 with details about our first annual "No Fuss" Fundraiser! Our spring schedule is full and we need your support to make everything happen! The fundraiser is "No Fuss" - meaning no laps to run, no book pages to count, no wrapping paper to sell! Students who participate will be entered to win a FREE WOOM BIKE! We'll celebrate as a school when we reach our goal!

Spring Testing Dates and Reminders

Spring is testing season in the state of Texas! Read below for information and dates for spring testing.

STAAR, STAAR Interim and STAAR Field Tests for 3rd-5th graders

Our third, fourth, and fifth grade students take STAAR Interim, or practice tests, in January and take the summative STAAR assessments in math and reading in April. Fifth graders also take the Science STAAR and STAAR Interim tests. These tests may include multiple-choice questions, short answers, and/or extended responses. The results will help staff monitor student progress, identify areas of need, and predict performance on the upcoming summative tests.

The Texas Education Agency also requires select districts, schools and grades to participate in field tests periodically. Field test results are not shared with parents or school officials, but are used by TEA to inform and design future tests. Forest North has been selected to administer STAAR Field Tests in Reading/Language Arts for third grade this year.

TELPAS for 2nd-5th graders

Our second through fifth grade students participating in the ESL program will participate in the TELPAS (Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System) online in February. This assessment tracks the progress of students learning English by measuring their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. It helps teachers provide the support needed to ensure these students’ success and continued growth in English proficiency.

Please note that the school has provided the assessment dates in advance, and we ask that you avoid scheduling doctor, dentist, or other appointments on these days. To help your child perform their best, we encourage you to ensure they arrive on time, are well-rested, and have a healthy.
