Good evening, Coyotes!
We have officially completed week one of STAAR, and I could not be prouder of our students. They took their time, used their strategies, and truly gave their best effort. They rocked it! Thank you to our students, teachers, admin, and staff for all of the hard work that went into a successful week. We still have science and math ahead, and I know our students will continue to do an amazing job.
We are also so excited for our Carnival tomorrow. Rain or shine, it is on, and we cannot wait to spend time together as a community and have a great evening.
Our lost and found is currently overflowing. All items will be placed at the front of the school tomorrow, so please take a moment to stop by and check for anything your child may have left behind. We will continue to have items out every Friday until most of them have been claimed.
Lastly, I want to share a quick safety reminder. While on crosswalk duty in the mornings, I have observed cars driving in the wrong direction and students being dropped off near the portables facing Harvey Penick. Please help us keep all of our students safe by following traffic flow and designated drop-off procedures.
Also, thank you to everyone who participated in our secret dress-up day in green and pink to celebrate and show appreciation for our assistant principals. It was such a fun way to recognize all they do for our campus each day.
Thank you for your continued support. We appreciate you and are proud to be part of such an amazing community.
Best,
Briana Flores

Updated: STAAR Testing Information for Families |
Dear Coyote Families,
STAAR testing is approaching, and we want to ensure you have all the important information to support your child.
Testing Dates
April 15: 5th Grade – Science
April 21: 3rd & 4th Grade – Math
April 22: 5th Grade – Math
To support our students, the school will provide each child with:
Pretzels
Goldfish
Peppermints
A bottle of water
How You Can Help Your Child:
Ensure your child arrives on time
Encourage a good night’s sleep
Provide a healthy breakfast
A Note About STAAR
STAAR is one way we measure student learning and progress throughout the year. It provides us with helpful information about how students are performing on grade-level expectations and where we can continue to support their growth. STAAR is only one data point and does not determine whether a student is promoted to the next grade level.
We want to reassure families that this test does not define a child’s abilities, potential, or future success. Every student has unique strengths, talents, and ways of learning that cannot be captured in a single assessment. Success in life is built over time through perseverance, creativity, relationships, and a love of learning, not one test score.
Our goal is always to support the whole child. Classroom performance, daily effort, growth throughout the year, and teacher feedback all play an important role in understanding each student’s progress.
We encourage you to help your child:
Stay calm and confident
Focus on doing their personal best
Lunch Visitors on Testing Days
Please note:
If a grade level is still testing during lunch, students will eat in their classrooms
We ask that families not come to campus for lunch on STAAR testing days
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students feel confident and prepared. We are proud of all their hard work this year!
Best,
Charlene Dabney
Assistant Principal (1st, 3rd, 5th)
