Elsa England Elementary - Round Rock ISD

9/7/2025

Dear England Families,

And just like that, we’re a full week into September! I hope everyone enjoyed the slightly cooler temps this weekend. I had the pleasure of running into several Leopard families around town. It’s always such a joy to connect beyond the school day and see your families enjoying time together. I’m continually reminded how lucky we are to be part of a community that values connection, learning, and joy both inside and outside of school.

One moment from Friday deserves a big spotlight. We sent out a last-minute call for volunteers to help cover the cafeteria since we were short-staffed. Not only did many of you step up right away, but you did it with such positivity and energy. Thank you for showing up for our Leopards in such a big way. We are so grateful!

And as always, I encourage you to read through the entire update. We value partnership and open communication, and these weekly notes are one of the best ways to stay connected.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking parents, community members, and high school volunteers to lead hands-on, engaging sessions for our Leopards. Whether it’s connected to your profession, a hobby, or a special skill, we know you have something to share!

Examples of past sessions: Origami • Yoga • Sketching • Coding • Cross Stitch • Cardboard Arcade • Future Teachers • Travel

Last spring, we piloted having parents, community, and high school students lead sessions—and it was a fantastic experience for everyone involved!

Volunteer Flexibility

  • Can’t commit to all six weeks? Partner with another volunteer and alternate.

  • Prefer teamwork? Teach in pairs and share the fun.

  • Teaching not for you? No problem—we also need helpers in classrooms and hallways each Friday. More details coming soon!

Important Notes for Session Leaders

  • Volunteers will submit their session topic and activities in advance.

  • An England staff member will be present in each session for classroom support.

  • All volunteers must complete the RRISD Volunteer Application/Background Check by 9/22 to participate.

New Volunteer Opportunity!

We are still working our way through unpacking all the new curriculum materials delivered for this school year, and our 4th grade team could use a few extra hands! Volunteers will help unpack, sort, and count materials to make sure we have everything needed for our learners.

If you have a chunk of time (big or small) this week and would like to help, please submit this form. We’ll gladly work with your availability. Our goal is to have everything unpacked and organized by the end of the week, and we’d be beyond grateful for your support!

Please note: You must be an approved RRISD volunteer for the 2025–2026 school year in order to volunteer.

💛 Volunteer Opportunity: Cafeteria Helpers Needed for 9/8-9/15

Do you love visiting with our adorable Leopard students? 🐆
Do you have a special talent for opening too-tight lunch boxes and rescuing spilled milk? 🥛✨

If so, we have just the job for you!

We’re looking for friendly faces to donate an hour of their time to help in the cafeteria. It’s a simple but meaningful way to support our kids during their day.

🍽️ Two time slots are open every day!
(Please make sure you are an approved RRISD Volunteer before signing up.)

Thank you for lending a hand and making lunchtime a little brighter for our Leopards! 💙

🚦 Safety Reminder: Dismissal Procedures
It is very important that families do not park in a space in the main parking lot and then walk up to pick up their child in the walker zone. This creates unsafe conditions, and we have already observed several near accidents with cars pulling out as families are walking through.

If your child is a walker, plan to walk (not drive) to campus to meet them. For everyone’s safety, we ask families to avoid entering the parking lot on foot during both morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Instead, please use the crosswalks located to the left or right of the school when walking.

Your partnership in following these procedures helps us keep all Leopards safe!

Closing Note

Our England community continues to shine because of the trust, kindness, and partnership you bring each day. Together, we’re building not only a strong school year but also lasting memories for our students. Here’s to another week of learning and laughter with our Leopards! 💛💙
