Cedar Valley Middle School - Round Rock ISD
Jaguar Tales

Dear Cedar Valley Families,

As a reminder, students are not on campus today and tomorrow while our staff participates in professional development. Classes will resume on Wednesday, September 24. We hope your family enjoys the extended break, and that our students return refreshed and ready to finish the week strong.

Over the past several weeks, students and teachers have been working hard together to stay on top of assignments and support academic growth. Six-week progress reports will be available to view in Home Access Center (HAC) on Thursday, September 25, and paper copies will be sent home on Friday, September 26.

There’s also a lot of excitement building for the first school dance of the year this Friday—an afternoon filled with fun, friendship, and school spirit! Details about the dance are included below.

You’ll also find important information below regarding upcoming Vision and Hearing Screenings as well as the Panorama Student Survey. Survey details were also emailed to families on Friday and include instructions for how to indicate your child’s participation. Please be sure to review that information if you haven’t already.

Thank you for your continued support in making Cedar Valley a great place to learn and grow. Go Jags!

2024-2025 CeVMS Honors Band Update

Jaguar Band

For just a simple write up you can put: The Cedar Valley Middle School Band has been named a Commended Winner by the Foundation of Music Education in the National Wind Band Contest. Over 110 bands across the nation sent in recordings from last year and the 2024-2025 Cedar Valley Middle School Honors Band, under the direction of Pete Alvarado & Jeff Owen, placed in the top 50% of all entries to earn this distinction. The judges who listened to the band had many fine things to say about the musicality on display by last year's Honors Band! This is the second year in a row that the band has been recognized as one of the best bands in the Nation. It is truly a testament to the ongoing level of excellence developed by the band directors, the commitment to become great musicians by the band students, and the exceptional support of the band families and the Cedar Valley Jaguar Family.

Parent Action Needed: Panorama Student Survey

Round Rock ISD is committed to the well-being of all our students. Round Rock ISD Board Goal Four measures student perceptions of Sense of Belonging, Safety at School, and Student Self-Efficacy. Since 2023, the district has used a survey from Panorama Education to help us understand these perceptions.

In previous years, parents could opt-out of this survey. However, with the passage of Senate Bill 12, your student must be opted-in for them to participate.

Our district values input from our community and we want to hear from your child(ren) so that we may learn about their experiences. While we encourage your student’s participation in the survey so that we use the data to make informed decisions about increasing our student’s sense of belonging in RRISD, we also believe in your right to make the choice that is best for your student and family.

On September 19, 2025, you should have received an email from Round Rock ISD with the subject line of “Action Required: Panorama Student Survey Consent” The link embedded in the email will take you to a form to either Opt-In or Opt-Out for your student’s participation in the Panorama Survey.

  • To review the questions on the survey, please click on the links below.

    • 3rd-5th Grades: Student Perception and Climate

    • 6th-12th Grades: Competencies and Climate

The survey will be administered during the weeks of October 6-17 (Fall Survey) and March 2-13 (Spring Survey). To give your consent for your student to take the survey, please make your selection by September 29, 2025.
