Cedar Valley Middle School - Round Rock ISD
Jaguar Tales

Dear Cedar Valley Families,

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms, grandmothers, and maternal figures in our Jaguar community! We hope your day is filled with the love and appreciation you truly deserve for everything you do to support our students.

It has been an especially proud week at Cedar Valley as we celebrate our students' latest achievements. We are thrilled to recognize our French students for their outstanding results in the Grand Concours 2026 National competition, and to applaud the incredible talent on display during our Theatre 1, Varsity Theatre, and Dance spring showcases.

Our athletes also finished the season strong, with both the Lady Jags and Jags soccer teams securing 2nd place in the district after hard-fought matches against Walsh. From the beautiful performances by our Percussion Ensemble to the drive shown on the field, our students continue to demonstrate remarkable growth and dedication.

Check out the highlights below to see more of what our amazing learners have been up to this week.

Go Jags!

Soccer Update

Cedar Valley Lady Jags Tie 1-1 With Walsh Lady Wildcats

The Lady Jaguars battled hard against the Walsh Lady Wildcats, ending the match in a 1–1 tie and securing 2nd place in the district! The Lady Jaguars’ goal came from Kiara P., who capitalized on a rebound ball to find the back of the net. Outstanding performances were also turned in by Bradlee D. and Kendall B. We are incredibly proud of all of these athletes and look forward to cheering them on as they continue their soccer careers at Round Rock High School!

Cedar Valley Jags Defeat Walsh 6-0!

The Jaguars earned an impressive 6–0 victory over the Walsh Wildcats to finish the season strong and secure 2nd place in the district with a 2-1-1 record! Jesus M. led the offensive attack with a hat trick, opening the scoring within the first 10 minutes with a strike from outside the box. He followed it up with a solo run through the field after a great pass from Lucca O., then scored again just 30 seconds after the kickoff to complete his hat trick.

Nelson S. recorded his first goal of the season after showcasing outstanding technical ability, dribbling through the midfield before finding the back of the net. Keivon L. added his first goal of the season as well, heading in a brilliant cross from Nelson S. To close out the match, Ian V. scored on a beautiful shot into the top corner off a corner cross from Aarav M..

We are incredibly proud of all of our athletes and look forward to watching them continue their soccer careers in  high school!

Summer Chromebook Care Checklist

We want you all to have a fantastic summer! While you are relaxing and recharging, make sure your Chromebook stays safe and clean for the next school year. Please review these "Do's" and "Don'ts" for taking care of your device.

The "Do's": Best Practices for Your Chromebook

Keep it in a safe space: When you aren't using your Chromebook, store it in a cool, dry place where it won’t get knocked off a table or stepped on.

Carry it properly: Always close the lid before moving your Chromebook. Carry it with two hands, hugging it close to your body like a book.

Clean it gently: If your screen gets smudged, use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe it down. Lightly dampening the cloth with water is okay for stubborn spots.

Manage the battery: When using it over the summer, keep it charged! If you plan to store it away for weeks without using it, charge it to about 80%, then shut it down completely to protect the battery’s health.

Keep chargers organized: Keep your charger in a safe spot away from pets who might like to chew on cords. When unplugging, pull from the plastic plug itself, never yank the cord.

The "Don'ts": Things to Avoid

Don't leave it in the car: Extreme heat is a Chromebook's worst enemy. Never leave your device in a hot car, outside in the sun, or near a window.

Don’t remove the case: It is installed on the device for protection.

Don't eat or drink near it: Keep all snacks and drinks far away! A single spill can completely ruin the keyboard and internal electronics.

Don't lift it by the screen: The hinges and the glass are delicate. Lifting the laptop by the screen can easily shatter the glass or break the connection to the keyboard.

Don’t leave pencils or pens on the keyboard: Leaving writing tools on the keyboard and then closing the lid can cause the screen to crack and/or shatter.

Don't use harsh chemicals: Never use window cleaners, bleach, or rough paper towels on your screen. They will strip the protective coating and scratch the glass.

Don't remove school tags: Leave all barcodes and asset tags exactly where they are.

Don't share passwords: Keep your login information private as you are responsible for your device.

Need Help? If your Chromebook gets lost, stolen, or accidentally damaged over the summer, let us know right away! Please contact either your campus ITS or our Help Desk @ 512-464-5167. Thank you for keeping our Technology in great shape and ready for use in the 2026-2027 school year!

Community Communication Sign Up

Currently, our campus communications are limited to students, parents, and staff.

We recognize that many other important family members and community members wish to stay informed (e.g., grandparents, stepparents, local supporters).

We are pleased to announce that in the near future, we will be launching a dedicated "Community" communication list.

If you know of someone who is not currently receiving our updates, please ask them to sign up to join this new list. Once our new system is fully operational, it will take approximately one week after completing the sign-up form for recipients to begin receiving campus communications.

GoGuardian Parent App

Our district is providing families access to GoGuardian Parent, a mobile app designed to provide parents/guardians insight and control over their student's online activity when on school-managed devices and accounts. GoGuardian Parent was created to help provide students additional educational support and is a companion to the classroom engagement and internet filtering tools that our school uses. The GoGuardian Parent app provides an overview of the apps, extensions, documents, and websites your student visited, as well as internet controls that you can set for out-of-school hours.

Learn more about GoGuardian Parent here.

Round Rock ISD Clothes Closet Donations

In our ongoing support for RRISD's Clothes Closet we are always keen to take your donations of tops, bottoms, jackets/hoodies. Clothes must be in great, clean condition with no tears, stains, bobbling etc.

We also need, NEW ONLY boxer briefs style underwear for girls and boys, plus teen appropriate sports bras. Please deliver to the Jag lobby.

Alternatively, you may wish to support by donating directly using the Amazon wishlist.
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2G8VOE7SO1TII?ref_=wl_dp_view_your_list
