Dear Cedar Valley Families,
It has been a fantastic week at Cedar Valley as we continue to celebrate the incredible achievements of our students both in the classroom and on the court.
I want to start by congratulating our basketball teams on a phenomenal district season! A special shout-out to our 7th Grade Boys A Team, who finished the season as Undefeated District Champions, and our 7th Grade Boys B Team, who also claimed the District Championship title. Our 8th Grade Girls B Team also deserves recognition for their hard-fought victory as Tournament Champions last weekend.
Regarding the Current Weather: As you may know, the RRISD Boys B Team Basketball Tournament scheduled for today was cancelled due to the anticipated severe weather. Please be assured that the district is closely monitoring the weather conditions in our area. We will communicate promptly with families if there is a need to make any changes to our school schedule or upcoming events. We hope that all of our Jaguar families are staying safe and warm this weekend. As we look toward the upcoming week, please keep these important events in mind: Kindness Week (Jan 26–30): I encourage all students to participate in our Student Council-sponsored dress-up days starting Tuesday (PJ Day!) to help make our campus an even more supportive place.
STAAR Interim Testing (Jan 26): Students will be taking the Math STAAR Interim this Monday. Please ensure your student brings a fully charged Chromebook. Course Selection: High school choice sheets for our 8th graders are due this Tuesday, January 27. We are also beginning transition events for our rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Please review the "Save the Date" sections below for upcoming parent meetings. Finally, I want to invite you to get involved in our spring traditions, from volunteering for the 8th Grade Celebration to joining us as a presenter for our Career Fair in April. Your support is what makes the Cedar Valley community so special. Thank you for your continued partnership. Stay safe and Go Jags!

A Message From Nurse Mina |
As Cedar Valley sees the uptick of illnesses, this is a friendly reminder to keep your child home if they are sick. A fever, diarrhea, and vomiting are signs of potential contagious illnesses. Fever-reducing medications such as Tylenol and ibuprofen only cover up the fever, and do not treat the underlying disease processes. Cough suppressants only block cough reflex but do not address the reasons why your child is coughing.
Please keep your child home if they have a fever of 100F or higher, vomiting or diarrhea. Thank you for keeping Cedar Valley healthy. |

Community Communication Sign Up |
Currently, our campus communications are limited to students, parents, and staff.
We recognize that many other important family members and community members wish to stay informed (e.g., grandparents, stepparents, local supporters). We are pleased to announce that in the near future, we will be launching a dedicated "Community" communication list.
If you know of someone who is not currently receiving our updates, please ask them to sign up to join this new list. Once our new system is fully operational, it will take approximately one week after completing the sign-up form for recipients to begin receiving campus communications. |
Our district is providing families access to GoGuardian Parent, a mobile app designed to provide parents/guardians insight and control over their student's online activity when on school-managed devices and accounts. GoGuardian Parent was created to help provide students additional educational support and is a companion to the classroom engagement and internet filtering tools that our school uses. The GoGuardian Parent app provides an overview of the apps, extensions, documents, and websites your student visited, as well as internet controls that you can set for out-of-school hours.

Round Rock ISD Clothes Closet Donations
|
The Clothes Closet is a project run by the local PTA's of Round Rock ISD. It offers good, gently used clothes to all students in the district who have need. Once per semester, each student can use this service. No referral necessary, just turn up to one of the two locations during opening hours.
In our ongoing support for RRISD's Clothes Closet we are always keen to take your donations of tops, bottoms, jackets/hoodies. Clothes must be in great, clean condition with no tears, stains, bobbling etc. We also need, NEW ONLY boxer briefs style underwear for girls and boys, plus teen appropriate sports bras. Please deliver to the Jag lobby.
Alternatively, you may wish to support by donating directly using the Amazon wishlist. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2G8VOE7SO1TII?ref_=wl_dp_view_your_list
There is always a need for happy helpers with a "can do" attitude at the Clothes Closet. For more information about what this would entail contact clothescloset@cevmspta.org or sign up directly. Volunteering with the Clothes Closet is a great way to support families in our wider community. No experience necessary. Spanish speaking volunteers are particularly helpful.
