Notes from the CCES Office & Admin

October 3, 2025

Dear Canyon Creek Families,

Happy October! Lots of fun learning happened this week, especially in Kindergarten. This week we saw lots of happy kinder faces roaming the campus completing their scavenger hunt and they finished the week off with our first field trip of the year! Don’t forget Fall Picture Day is coming up next Tuesday, October 7th. This picture will be used for our annual yearbook!

A BIG thank you to CCE PTA for spoiling us on Coffee Day this week with a coffee truck! Our staff enjoyed a mid-day pick me up on Tuesday. Thank you so much for the treat!

We hope you have a great weekend and we will see you back at CCE on Monday!

After-School Dismissal Reminders and Running Club Start

We are excited to announce that the CCE PTA Running Club will officially begin practice next week, Tuesday, October 7th!

To ensure the safety and necessary space for our running club participants and other official after-school programs, we are enforcing the rule from the Student Handbook on page 125. Students  must  leave  campus  immediately  after  dismissal  from  school  in  the  afternoon,  unless the student  is  involved  in  an  activity  under  the  supervision of a teacher or other authorized employee or adult.

Dismissal Details
By 3:05 PM, all students must be off campus property unless they are officially registered for and attending one of the following:

  1. The Running Club practice.

  2. An official after-school class, program, or supervised club (e.g., Chess Club, Mandarin Club, Enrichment Classes, UIL, tutoring, YMCA).

  3. Safety Patrol

This early clearance is crucial for our coaches to manage the track, field, and surrounding areas safely as they prepare for and conduct practices.

After 3:05 PM, the following areas are strictly off-limits to all non-participating students:

  • Playground

  • Blacktop/Courts

  • Field/Grass Area

  • Track

Please plan your pick-up routine accordingly to ensure your student is departed from campus promptly at dismissal time or by 3:05 PM at the latest.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and organized after-school environment for all of our students and staff.

Reminders for Event RSVPs

When submitting your RSVP to volunteer for school events—such as field trips, classroom celebrations, or special events (coffee chats, etc) —please  make sure to enter your name as it appears on your legal form of identification (driver's license, passport). This helps us speed up the check-in and approval process.

Thanks for your support!

Reminder for Campus Visitors

When visiting our school—whether you're picking up a student, meeting with a teacher, joining your child for lunch—please make sure to bring a physical ID with you.
Photos of your ID on your phone won’t be accepted.

Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe!

News from Westwood

softball

My name is Paul Thailing, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the new Head Softball Coach at Westwood High School. As we work to build a strong and successful program, we’re focusing on connecting with our future Warriors early and often.

To that end, we’re hosting a free softball clinic on Saturday, October 18th, and we’d love to invite your students to participate. I’ve attached an informational flyer with all the details. If you could help us share this opportunity through your newsletters, social media, or any other communication channels, it would mean a great deal to our team.

Additionally, if your campus is planning any pep rallies this year, we’d be thrilled to attend and briefly speak to help generate excitement about Westwood Softball among your students.

Thank you for your support, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
