Hello, Blackland Prairie Families,
This week, our students focused on Habit #4: Think Win-Win. This habit encourages students to look for solutions where everyone can be successful. It helps them learn to collaborate, share ideas, and celebrate the success of others. Families can support this habit at home by talking with your child about ways to solve problems so that everyone feels respected and valued. For example, when disagreements arise, you might ask questions like, “What would a win for both of you look like?” or “How can you solve this in a way that helps everyone?” These conversations help children practice empathy, compromise, and teamwork.
Students also enjoyed participating in DEAL (Drop Everything and Lead) groups this morning. DEAL groups give students the opportunity to choose a group based on something that interests them and spend time learning and leading alongside peers who share that interest. These experiences empower students with voice and choice while also allowing our staff to share passions beyond academic content. It is always a highlight for both students and teachers!
As we close out the 3rd nine weeks, we are proud of the hard work our students and staff have put in and are looking forward to a strong finish as we head into the 4th nine weeks. April will bring STAAR testing for our eligible grade levels, and we want to keep the momentum going strong. One way families can support this is by talking with your child about the goals they are tracking in class. Ask them what they are working toward and how they may be adjusting their strategies to ensure they reach their goals by the end of the year. These conversations help students stay focused and take ownership of their learning.
We are also excited about the upcoming PTA Carnival on March 27! This is always a wonderful community event filled with fun and connection for our Blackland Prairie families. We hope to see many of you there as we celebrate together and continue building the strong community that makes our school so special.
We wish all of our families a restful and fun Spring Break and look forward to seeing everyone back on the Prairie on Monday, March 23rd. Thank you for your continued partnership.
As always, stay safe and take care out on the Prairie!
