A Note from the Principal

Hello, Blackland Prairie Families,

We are so thankful for our incredible Wildcat DADS (Dads of Awesome Daughters and Sons) who came to campus today to teach a lesson to our 1st graders! Our students absolutely loved the experience. The time, preparation, and heart that our DADS pour into these lessons make such a difference. Partnerships like this strengthen our community and show our students that leadership comes in many forms.

This week, we also focused on Habit #1: Be Proactive. Students learned that being proactive means taking responsibility for their choices and actions. On the leadership continuum, this is where students move from needing reminders and direction toward taking initiative and ownership. At home, families can support this habit by encouraging children to complete responsibilities without being asked, use positive language, and focus on what they can control rather than what they cannot. Simple questions like, “What was in your control today?” can spark powerful conversations.

On Tuesday, our teachers spent the day in professional development, learning, collaborating, and planning together. They used this valuable time to reflect on student progress and prepare strong instruction as we approach the final quarter of the school year. Our team is committed to finishing strong and ensuring every student continues to grow.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to build leaders at Blackland Prairie!

As always, stay safe and take care out on the Prairie!

Did You Know?

Did you know in Teacher Believed in Me by David K. Hatch and Muriel T. Summers, students reflect on how teachers brought people together, building classrooms where collaboration, encouragement, and shared strengths led to growth. When teachers believed in their students, they also helped students believe in one another. That collective belief created environments where everyone could contribute and succeed.

At Blackland Prairie, we support Habit 6 by:

-Encouraging teamwork and collaborative learning

-Valuing diverse strengths and perspectives

-Teaching students that everyone has something important to contribute

When students learn to synergize, they discover that working together produces stronger ideas, deeper understanding, and greater confidence. Habit 6 helps students grow not only as learners but as leaders who know the power of collaboration.
