A Note from the Principal

What a Great First Week on the Prairie!

Wildcats, we couldn’t have asked for a better start to our school year! Our first week was full of learning, laughter, and lots of Wildcat Pride. We’re so proud of how quickly our students are settling into routines and showing what it means to be safe, respectful, and responsible.

This week, we also began focusing on Habit 1: Be Proactive, taking responsibility for our actions, making good choices, and thinking ahead. Ask your child how they can be proactive at home and what that might look like in your family’s daily routines.

We’d also love for you to ask your student about our Wildcat sign, what it looks like, and how we use it to get others’ attention in a positive way. It’s a simple tool that’s helping us build a kind, respectful learning community.

Thank you for your patience in the arrival and dismissal lanes. As everyone learns the procedures and gets into the swing of things, your cooperation is making a big difference in keeping everyone safe and moving smoothly.

Here’s to another fantastic week ahead. As always, stay safe out on the Prairie!

Did You Know?

Becoming a member of our PTA directly benefits our school! The PTA helps fund resources, activities, and experiences that make learning more engaging and fun for our students, things we wouldn’t be able to provide with school funds alone.

Joining doesn’t mean you have to volunteer your time, it simply shows that we have a community ready to support our school. Your membership helps us create opportunities, events, and experiences that our Wildcats will remember for years to come.

New This Week

Important: Student Late Arrival Sign-In - Beginning Monday, August 18, 2025, any student arriving after 7:35 AM must be signed in at the front office by a parent/guardian. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us ensure a safe and smooth start to the school day.

Student Absence Reporting - Parents, if your child will be absent, please use this Absence Reporting Form to notify the school. This will help us keep accurate attendance records and ensure that all absences are documented. Thank you for your cooperation!

Request for a Change of Dismissal Today Only Form - This form is to be used only for same-day changes to your child’s regular after-school dismissal plan. It may not be used for early pick-ups.

Please complete THIS FORM on the day of the change and include specific instructions for your child. Examples include:

  • A student who usually goes to aftercare will ride the bus instead.

  • A student who normally rides the bus will be picked up by a parent/guardian at dismissal.

🔔 Important: The form closes daily at 2:20 PM. No changes can be made after this time.

Permanent dismissal changes should be communicated directly to your child’s teacher.

If you have any questions, please call the front office at 512-424-8600.

From the nurse:

  • If you are planning to come and drop off medications, please come anytime after 8:00 am. Unless you have pre-arranged a specific time.

  • Please keep your child home if they are sick. A fever is considered anything 100 degrees or over. They have to be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications such as Tylenol or Motrin before they can return.

  • Please pack a change of clothes in your child's backpack for those unforeseen accidents like spills, mud, and potty accidents.

Register Now for eSports!

eSports is a great way to improve your child's communication skills and increase group collaboration. Playing games such as Minecraft and Rocket League requires strategy from all players and will help develop the thought process behind problem-solving and critical thinking. Each session will consist of Minecraft and Rocket League curriculum.

Details and Sign-Up are HERE. sign up quickly - there are a very limited number of spots!

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders

Thank you for your continued support and adherence to our morning arrival and afternoon dismissal procedures.

We are excited to share the progress we've already made! On the first day of school, dismissal took us almost until 3:35 p.m. to have all students exit the building. By Thursday, all students were released by 3:17 p.m.—an 18-minute improvement in just three days. Wow!

As the school year progresses, our goal is to have all students dismissed by 3:10 p.m. We know this is achievable, as we typically reach this point by the end of August. Keep up the great work!

A Few Reminders to Keep Arrival and Dismissal Running Smoothly

As we head into our second week of school:

Arrival

  • Doors open at 7:10 a.m. at the front entrance (under the awning) and the back door near the cafeteria/gym.

  • At 7:15 a.m., the remaining doors open (two front doors and two back doors).

  • At 7:25 a.m., the front door by the 3rd grade hallway closes to help ensure all families pull forward during arrival.

  • At 7:35 a.m., all doors close and lock, and the school day officially begins.

🚗 Important Arrival Notes for Parents:

  • Please stay in your vehicle during drop-off. If you need to assist your child, park in a visitor’s spot in the front lot and use the crosswalk by the flagpoles to walk your child in.

  • Once your child has exited the vehicle, please begin exiting the campus to allow traffic to continue moving. Waiting to watch your child enter the building may prevent them from entering on time (by 7:35 a.m.).

  • For families coming from Fernspring and Lake Forest, please do not block the 4-way intersection when approaching campus.

▶️ Check out this short “Fleming Fast Facts for Families” video to help with this process at the bottom of this section.

Dismissal

  • Dismissal begins at 2:55 p.m.

🚗 Front Car Riders:

  • Thank you for allowing our four school buses and seven daycare vans into the front lane first. Once they are loaded, we can safely and efficiently dismiss all front car rider students.

  • As with morning drop-off, parents should remain in their vehicles during pick-up. If you need to help your child buckle up, please pull into a parking space before exiting the campus parking lot.

Let’s keep working together to make arrival and dismissal safe, efficient, and stress-free. We appreciate your partnership!
